Rajasthan Royals demanded over $30million from BCCI as their compensation

The Bombay High Court has upheld the stay  on the termination of Rajasthan Royals issued by the judge hearing the arbitration case between the franchise and the BCCI.The contract was terminated by the Board last October for alleged breaches of the franchise agreement by the Royals including the ownership structure of the team. Earlier the owners of the Rajasthan Royals had filed an arbitration petition against the BCCI with the Bombay High Court in their attempts to get the Royals franchise reinstated . The decision to remove the Royals from next year’s tournament was unanimously agreed after the Governing Council examined the ownership structure at an emergency meeting in Mumbai at the start of October.

According to the show causes issued by the BCCI; the Royals restructured its ownership structure in March 2008 and in January 2009 which resulted in Emerging Media (IPL) Limited; winners of the franchise during the IPL franchise auction in 2008 with no shares in Jaipur IPL Cricket Private Limited, owners of the Royals franchise.Having taken the BCCI to court at the end of last year the Royals won their case and were reinstated by an arbitrator who ruled in favour of the franchise .The spokesman of team said to media that  the Royals would be seeking damages totalling over $30 million after submitting their case to arbitrator Justice B N Srikrishna. The Team believes that the team have suffered a great loss as their brand is being spoiled by the BCCI , the had build their image with lots of hard work and have invested a lot of money in promotion so they need to seek compensation  from BCCI to reimburse it again .  After all this problems again one more problem hit the Royals , it was that the Royals were asked to submit a bank guarantee of almost $20 million to the BCCI before being allowed to take part in the player auction in January.

After the Royals won the case , Justice Srikrishna  penned the case in  favour of the Royals after a three day hearing with the BCCI.An independent arbitrator has given the Rajasthan Royals a new lifeline after he issued a six week stay on the franchise’s expulsion from the Indian Premier League. As per the decision The royals were allowed to take part In IPL’S auction and were  asked to announce the name of four players who they still wish to retain for next years tournament . The decision of court  which favoured Royal’s was dream savior for them . Justice BN Srikrishna after the decision was announced said , “There will be no interference with them exercising rights under the franchise agreement and further added that they will be allowed to participate in the auction without no offences ,”.

The owner’s of Royal’s and Punjab are in shock after the BCCI’s decision to axe the teams franchise during an emergency meeting of the IPL’s Governing Council.

The decision to remove the teams from next year’s tournament was unanimously agreed after the Governing Council examined the ownership structures of both franchises during the previous few days . The IPL Governing Council has terminated the franchises of the Rajasthan Royals and the Kings XI Punjab at an emergency meeting in Mumbai where the team’s ownership structures were discussed. The Royals, winners of the 2008 Indian Premier League; along with the Kings XI Punjab were both barred from participating in next year’s tournament. The owner of the team Shilpa is disheartened and  believes the team is part of her life as she has invested her hard earned money in it and more than just a playing team or a franchise to her  , she also said that such news shocked all players of the team and is disturbing their mental state of mind . Raj Kundra another owner of Royals criticized the system of BCCI and further added that he wonder’s how IPL 4 will  be hald as BCCI is treating teams just as a franchise which matters nothing to them .But still he wants to wait for the final formal copy from BCCI regarding their termination from the IPL season .The captain of Rajasthan Royal’s Shane himself was upset because of random decision of BCCi and said that he felt more bad for the  future of new young players of the team and he is hoping the board to change their decision for the goodwill for all.

The Royals and King XI were supported by another team owner Vijay Mallya  and he said that “This is down right ridiculous and raises serious questions on the attitude of the BCCI towards IPL franchisees,I wonder if IPL franchisees are serious stakeholders whose investments and participation are respected or are they slaves who only come and play?he added.,” .

Both teams have announced their surprise and regret at the decision and while they wait for further information from the BCCI they will be consulting their legal representatives before taking further action.

Salman Khan interested in buying IPL team

Bollywood star Salman Khan wants to own a cricket team. The actor has met IPL chairman Lalit Modi in Mumbai to understand the bidding process.

Two new IPL teams are to be introduced in IPL 2011. Early reports say Khan is interested in bidding for the Nagpur or Kochi team.

Last year, the average bid was 150 million dollars per team, so Salman will need a serious amount of cash.

Preity Zinta Sure Will Miss Yuvraj,Irfan Pathan And Bret Lee

The IPL season kicks off in less than a month and there are a lot of changes this season.

One of them is that Yuvraj Singh will now bat for his new team from Pune and not for Preity Zinta’s Punjab team. The actress and her players return to IPL 4 with a brave face, but the fact is that they’ve lost out on quite a few of their old players.

They finished bottom in the last season and with no marquee players in the team this time, everyone is wondering about their game plan. They sure will miss Yuvraj, Irfan Pathan and Bret Lee. However, the spunky Preity is not bemoaning the loss of any. When asked whether she’ll miss Yuvraj, she shoots back, "Why is it always one way? He also has lost out on us. We are still friends and I wish Yuvi well. In fact, I was really happy to see him perform well in the last match that India played in the World Cup."

They occupied the wooden spoon last year but Preity is hopeful of a turnaround in 2011. "I think we should do well. If I were to play, I would come first! As long as I am not playing, I can’t really comment. Not that I ever chose players for the team, but I certainly conveyed my opinion. If they wished, they agreed with me and if they didn’t, they didn’t."

There were murmurs of the actress packing her bags and winding up her IPL sojourn by selling off the team, but PZ stresses, "We were going to offload some stake, but not the entire team. I will never go out of it completely. To me, it’s my baby that I have worked hard on and given my life to. I just can’t wash my hands off it. Now it’s settled and in its own zone. Let me not get stressed out about those issues."

Yes, let’s not add to her stress as she readies herself for her TV debut with Guiness World Records Ab India Todega.

Kochi IPL team renamed

The Kochi IPL team, who were earlier known as Indi Commandos, will henceforth be known as Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) sources said.

The official name of the team has been approved by the BCCI and the IPL governing council, they added.

KCA, on Saturday, said preparations for the first IPL encounter between Kochi, making their debut this season, and Royal challengers Bangalore, were almost complete and it was fully geared up to host the five matches of the home team here from April 9.

The final squads of IPL 2011 for all teams is now announced. Along, with some new overseas players teams also include new domestic players in their squad. The prestigious Indian Premier League 2011 will be a different ball game this time as two new teams, IPL Pune Warriors and IPL Kochi have joined the league taking the total number of teams to 10.
